Self care, a necessity for our health! Did you know September is Self Care Awareness Month.

Everyone talks about self care, how important it can be, but do we ever actually think about what it is, how we practice self care and what the benefits can be? I did some looking online, trying to find a definition and found that Self Care is defined as a “broad term encompassing anything you do to be good to yourself.” there’s one site I found that describes it as emotional first aid, another that says “Self care is the mindset, activities, practices and habits we bring to bear against stress, unhappiness, illness, depression and many more negative emotions.” there are also many types of self care, and many benefits to be found

IF WE ARE CONSTANTLY GIVING TO OTHERS, RECEIVING NOTHING AND TAKING NO TIME FOR OURSELVES, THEN ULTIMATELY WE WILL HAVE NOTHING TO GIVE.

Mental Self CareTake care of your mind, challenge yourself, educate yourself, never stop learning.

Emotional Self Care

We need to make sure we care for our emotional health, to remain stable and grounded

Pleasurable and Pampering

CareWe need to satisfy ourselves in a manner that is healthy and pleasurable

Sensory Self Care

We need to tantalize our senses. Sight, Sound, Smell, Taste and Touch, we are physical creatures.

Social Self Care

We are social creatures, we need contact with those we trust and love. We need physical contact, hugs, and we need to create and care for our friendships

Spiritual Self Care

This is not necessarily religious in nature, but more an awareness of ourselves in relation to the world

These are my favorites and the self care ideas I have listed for myself.
